The Legend of Apollonia

It was in the heart of the city of Alexandria that the legend of Apollonia was born. While historic accounts differ, it is clear that something very special happened that fateful day, in the year 249 A.D.

Some say the young girl was defending her faith, others contend she was defending her virtue. All agree that she was subjected to having her front teeth heartlessly knocked out by an officer of the Roman Empire.

She no doubt found the trauma unbearable, because to escape her tormentors she flung herself onto a bonfire, and forever ended her suffering through death. From the flames she was heard to cry "let all who invoke my name be relieved of dental pain".

And so it was that over the ages and throughout the world, many people of many faiths have come to pray to Apollonia for relief of toothache pain.

The Apollonia Dental Centers are dedicated to helping her cause, by providing dentists with facilities, staffing, and support, so they can be relieved of the day-to-day distractions of running an office.
